Pizza-master Alessandro is delighted to introduce his new baby, Bambina, to the people of Hastings. Proudly serving freshly made roman-style pizza by the slice for walk-in customers, and his famous Pizza Napoletana for online and phone orders, Bambina is your little local pizza bar that’s sure to please.

PIZZA ROMANA

Bambina’s specialty is Pizza Romana, also known as Pizza Al Taglio, meaning pizza by the cut/slice. It’s a large rectangular pizza loaded with toppings and cut with scissors into quadrilateral slices.

At Bambina, the pizza is displayed in glass cabinets, our customers choose a slice, which is traditionally portioned and cut with scissors, then wrapped in waxed paper to be eaten on the go. Multiple slices can be purchased to take home.

We serve a variety of one of a kind pizzas created to excite and entice.
The lineup changes frequently throughout the day based on availability of locally sourced ingredients. Vegetarian options are always available.

PIZZA NAPOLETANA

Classic Italian pizza, cooked in our state-of-the-art oven. Our Neapolitan pizzas are roughly 12” in diameter, made to share (though you won’t want to!). We offer a variety of classic, flavourful toppings - view our menu to see what’s on offer. Available to order online, by phone, or by dropping in to Bambina, our pizza Napoletana is made fresh to order by Alessandro, with years of experience ensuring it’s the perfect bite.

It starts with the ingredients. Using the finest quality flours, Italian tomatoes grown in the Vesuvian volcanic soils of Napoli and the freshest local produce, nothing is spared to create that mouth watering pizza.

Alessandro is no stranger to making pizza, with over 36 years spent finessing and striving to perfect his craft, from Italy to America to Auckland to Hawke's Bay. The result....pizza like you never tasted before.

AUTHENTICITY

Bambina is all about real, traditional Italian pizza: the only kind of pizza you need in your life. It’s an art form that has been perfected over centuries, and it’s our mission to honour it.

Bambina uses a blend of heirloom flours produced in Italy and from the south island here in New Zealand. Then we mix the ‘holy grail’, Alessandro’s mother starter preferment to the flour, water, EVOO and sea salt.

THAT DOUGH THOUGH!

The dough with a minimum of 80% hydration, is then left to rise for 72 to 96 hours and, when baked, the result is a thick but light and airy crispy crust rich in natural fibre.
